Italian Banking Group Banca Sella Pilots Stablecoin Custody With Fireblocks
Banca Sella, an Italian banking group with a reputation for technological experimentation, has initiated an internal trial allowing select employees to custody cryptocurrencies—including stablecoins—using Fireblocks' institutional-grade infrastructure. The pilot, running through summer 2024, may expand to the bank's 1.4 million clients managing over €66 billion in assets if deemed successful.

Intesa Sanpaolo recently launched a Bitcoin trading desk, while UniCredit prepares structured products tied to BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF. Société Générale further demonstrates this trend with its second stablecoin issuance following 2022's euro-denominated offering.
